English Club Explorers (Ages 6–8)
What is Explorers?
Explorers is our structured English speaking programme for children aged 6 to 9. Designed for Thai learners in the early stages of language development, the course helps children build the confidence to speak and listen in English through story-based lessons, songs, guided conversation, and speaking games.
Lessons are held after school and on weekends at our modern learning centre in Hua Hin. The goal is simple: help your child feel comfortable and excited to speak English from the very first day.
Rather than memorising isolated vocabulary or silently filling out worksheets, learners in Explorers are constantly encouraged to speak out loud, ask and answer questions, repeat useful phrases, and interact with their classmates and teacher. Every session is built around spoken English, so students become confident, natural speakers through meaningful practice.
What Makes Our Programme Different?
Our World by National Geographic Learning
At the centre of the Explorers curriculum is Our World, a globally respected course created by National Geographic Learning for young English learners. The series combines rich visual content, real-world themes, and structured speaking tasks to make every lesson meaningful and engaging.
Each unit introduces a topic children can relate to — such as animals, family, routines, or the environment — and uses it to build essential communication skills. Lessons include:
- Listening and repeating age-appropriate phrases
- Talking about photos and videos
- Giving short answers and personal responses
- Partner speaking practice and classroom dialogues
- Roleplays and simple conversations
Children love learning about the world through stunning photography and real video content — while developing the confidence to describe, ask, and express in English.
Our World doesn’t just teach vocabulary — it teaches children how to use English to communicate ideas. Each lesson encourages students to respond to questions, describe what they see, and talk about their own lives. This approach helps even shy learners begin to speak naturally and without fear.
Children participate in group speaking games, give short talks about what they’ve learned, and act out simple roleplays using new words in context. Teachers provide gentle correction and support, allowing every child to improve at their own pace.
Because the course follows a clear structure aligned with international standards, parents can see real progress — not only in how many words their child knows, but in how confidently they speak. Our World helps children build the foundation they need to become fluent, independent English speakers, all while having fun and discovering more about the world.
English Speaking Board (ESB)
The Explorers programme is influenced by the speaking framework of the English Speaking Board (UK), which encourages children to talk in front of others in a supportive environment. Students begin to:
- Describe objects and pictures
- Retell short stories
- Share personal ideas using simple English
These tasks are done informally through games, props, and storytelling, helping children speak without fear or pressure. The aim is to build early oracy skills in a natural, age-appropriate way.
Trinity College London – GESE Framework
We use the Trinity College London GESE model to shape our lesson progression. Although students in this age group do not sit the exam, the speaking activities follow GESE’s structure — personal questions, functional language, and everyday conversation.
Students learn to:
- Understand and answer simple questions
- Speak in full sentences
- Build short dialogues with a partner
- Talk about familiar topics like school, family, and pets
This prepares learners for formal speaking qualifications later on, without any exam stress.
